about le kebabiere

This is one of the loveliest contemporary Indian restaurants I have been to. It is cavernous with the walls painted (Jaipur) pink and blue. Tables are large and slightly lower than conventional ones, making it a cross between lounge and formal seating. Le Kebabiere claims to bring together some beloved and some not-so-well-known classics. The Mushroom Galouti stole the show for me. The Tandoori Mushrooms stuffed with minced vegetables and achaari spices were also delicious as was the Paneer Roomani Pasanda. The Jhinga Tandoori and Dakshin Yera (a South Indian-inspired prawn preparation, deep-fried with a hint of curry leaf) are my seafood picks. While the Murgh Parcha Kebab is mouth-watering, the Shahjahani Shikampur was a million miles lighter than its traditional counterpart. For those who like something more classic, the Murgh Sigdi Tikka, your basic chicken tikka grilled on a sigdi as opposed to a tandoor, and the Tandoori Pomfret should cater amply. For the vegetarians, the Subz Seekh Kebab, Tandoori Paneer Tikka and Aloo Chutney Kebab are all good to order. You should also try the Tandoori Mirch, a large green Bhavnagri Chilli stuffed with cheese and charred in the tandoor. The Patthar ka Gosht, Nalli Kebab and the Chargrilled Baby Lamb Shank are great for mains. Those with a large appetite and a weak will should try the Kabuli Raan (cooked with rum), the Bhutta Palak (tempered with garlic and Kashmiri chillies) or the Jhinga Kaffir (a speciality of the executive chef Shailendra Kekade). Lucknavi Gosht Biryani and the Sufiyani Biryani (a classic white biryani) from Hyderabad are really good, well-seasoned and moist. They also have a full bar and serve a delicious range of cocktails. Le Kebabiere is a funky, modern, reasonably priced Indian restaurant and a great place to spend an evening with friends. This is one of the loveliest contemporary Indian restaurants I have been to.
