Paradise in Provence Part Five

by robert c on 27 Oct 2016 (Couple Traveller)

My wife and I have stayed at Mas des Figues just outside of Saint Remy in Provence, France for the last five years. This September 2016 we stayed for a week and it was wonderful again. We enjoyed our walks along the canal and swimming in the heated pool. The flowers and trees on the grounds allow you to enjoy a country setting. The rooms are very pleasant and quiet with a patio or balcony. The beds and the bathroom are extremely comfortable. The owners, Phillipe and Anne are helpful and hospitab...

WONDERFUL experience

by mauriciobuenaventura on 19 Oct 2016 (Family Traveller)

If you are around the Luberon and Aix area staying at the Mas des Figues is a must. Easily accessible from many points of this beautiful region it is an oasis of truly Provençal experiences both in stay and in food with their great welcoming atmosphere (Philip and wife) as well as their great homemade breakfast with every imaginable confitures and legumes ensemble. Rooms are neat, tidy and comfortable with amenities and ample bathroom. Strongly recommend

Private cooking lesson

by sakegrrrl on 28 Sep 2016 (Couple Traveller)

My husband and I stumbled upon this wonderful place in St. Remy through our Airbnb host. What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon on our honeymoon. We learned all about Provencal cooking and had a tour of the eclectic garden and grounds from our eccentric host, Philippe Michelot and his lovely wife Anne Marie. Our cooking lesson was very informative but not too laborious as Phillipe did much of the leg work. We had a wide variety of Provencal dishes (olive tapenade, hummus provencal style, c...

Totally bonkers - but really rather lovely

by Neil D on 11 Aug 2016 (Family Traveller)

Just outside Saint Remy, in the quiet countryside, is this quite lovely resort. The first thing that you'll notice, on arrival, is that the grounds are festooned with 'unusual' sculptures. The artist (Phillippe) claims his styles is 'kitsch' - I would, personally put it in the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band / Monty Python school of art myself, but there you go. Some of the sculptures should carry a 'PG" certificate, so be careful if you have young, impressionable, teenagers in your party. Inside the pro...

Beautiful gardens

by durhamyankee on 06 Aug 2016 (Family Traveller)

The plantings, interspersed with great art pieces, at this hotel are 5 star. Same for the rooms. The disappointment was the feeling of trespassing, instead of being a guest. We had spent several weeks prior to our stay here being spoiled by the lovely hospitality of the French. In 3 other spots (St Malo, Paris, and Sarlat) we were welcomed and efforts were made to enhance our visits to those areas. Mas des Figues didn't live up to its promotions. Breakfast was fine, but advertising eggs and sa...
