ABOUT Manas National Park
Manas National Park has an exotic feel to it, with a stunning dense forest and the blue hills of Bhutan looming in the distance. Home to the tiger, elephant, wild buffalo and gaur as also that golden langur and red panda, Manas is classified as a World Heritage Site in danger.
You get permits to enter the Manas National Park at Barpeta Road. You can enter in your own 4-wheeler or a hired one. There are no Forest Department safaris but private resorts offer safaris. There are elephant rides, walks, tea plantation and village visits on offer.
The nearest airport is at Guwahati (176 km). Barpeta Road (32 km from Manas) is the nearest railhead. Manas is connected to all major cities of Assam by road. November to March is the best time. You can hire a cab from Guwahati and reach the national park, which 176 km away and would take you somewhere around 4 to 5 hours.

"awesome national park"
reviewed on Jun 22 2014
I have visited a lot of national parks but few things make it an unique national park.In other words we can say that travelling to assam is better than traveling to other places. In this national park, there was a deep forest experience where you can see many animals which you will not see in most zoo, national parks etc. Also the experience of river rafting was awesome. Overall i am completely satisfied with this national park. Everyone should go there atleast once.
