This used to be a really good hotel, but new management knows nothing about hospitality

by alengyel on 25 Jan 2017 (Solo Traveller)

A central hotel in the heart of Budapest, Marmara used to be a very good choice for business travellers or anyone really. Some issues with breakfast and the staff, but certainly edible, otherwise a pleasant hotel for the price. It is one thing that on many fronts they let their establishment, which is less than ten years old fall into decay (months-old cobwebs in corners, issues in some bathrooms etc., it is another thing that wifi has been a problem in rooms for at least a year (throwing you of...

Superb hotel

by Linzi W on 19 Jan 2017 (Family Traveller)

We spent a weekend in Budapest to visit the Christmas markets. This hotel was clean and comfortable and only a 10 minute walk to St Stephens Basilica. The rooms were very comfortable but I think most of the rooms overlook the breakfast room, so I don't think there are many with good views. Reception staff were generally helpful and polite

Excellent hotel in the heart of Budapest

by pb0gdan on 11 Jan 2017 (Couple Traveller)

We arrived late in the evening and everything was perfect. The check-in was done within minutes. We arrived in the room where we found a complimentary fruit basket and greetings from the staff. The hotel is great, very clean, the breakfast is wonderful. Staff is very attentive and helpful. Would definitely return here!

Xmas market in Budapest

This year, an offer came up for the Marmara so we took the opportunity to stay in a different part of town. The hotel is in a good location about one kilometre from the centre with easy tram, bus and metro access. The hotel is of a high standard, clean and the breakfast was good once seating was available, plates and cups found. The hote...

Could do better!

by Meg041212 on 19 Dec 2016 (Couple Traveller)

Well I will say it was an experience, neither good nor bad. We booked through Low costs holidays, who went bust. So we rebooked our superior room directly with the hotel. 2 weeks after returning home I am still trying to work out what was superior about the room. It was clean and big, but sparse. The bathroom had the longest shower I think I have ever seen, just a pity the water from the small shower head only went 2 foot unless you held it in your hand. Oh and BEWARE when some one turns...
