about masani temple

Dedicated to Goddess Masani, Masani Temple is a popular shrine in Gurgaon. It is said that this temple can heal smallpox and thus it is thronged by devotees whose children are suffering from that disease. The construction of the temple is associated with a legend, according to which a long time ago there was a Masani temple in Keshopur village. One day the Goddess decided to leave the village and one of the natives of the village named Singha dreamt about it. He then built the temple in Gurgaon.

The temple is known for Masani Fair that is held every year in the month of April or May. During the fair there are a host of activities, including various stalls selling a variety of products, dances, dramas, folk music, folk recitals, and numerous cultural functions. A number of Sadhus and Sanyasis come to the fair from all corners of the country. This fair is a thriving symbol of colorful rural culture of the State of Haryana.
