about monkey point

Monkey Point (which local signboards call ‘Manki Point’) lies 4 km from the bus stand, at the very end of the Lower Mall. This is perhaps the most ‘done’ walk in Kasauli because the Lower Mall is a relatively easy road to walk. At the end lies a Hanuman Temple. You walk through the gently ambling Mall for an hour or two, depending on your pace, past the hotels Alasia and Ros Common, lovely bungalows on the hillside, sweeping valleys, hill views and a Sunrise View Point, to reach the Air Force Station. Beyond which lies Monkey Point. Across the forested hills and ravines is the sleepy town of Dagshai. On a clear day, you can catch views of the snow-clad Dhauladhar Range and, in the north-east, the Choor Chandni Peak. On a clear night, you can see the city lights of Chandigarh.

The Air Force Station gate opens at 9 am. There’s a long list of things, including your mobile phone and camera, that you must leave behind. If keen to see the temple, drive up to the Air Force Station and leave your things in the car. If keen on the walk, simply turn back from the station
