If you are a food lover then you must plan a trip to Hyderabad. Also instead of heading to fancy restaurants, opt to eat like a local in Hyderabad. Relish its rich and incomparable cuisine filled with a distinct aroma which is unique to the city. Here is a list of famous local dishes in Hyderabad you should definitely try.

Hyderabadi Biryani

Biryani is the first thing that comes to mind whenever anyone mentions Hyderabad. Hyderabadi Biryani is not only the most popular local dish but is a non-vegetarian’s dream-come-true. It is prepared in a unique style as practised by the Nizams and has a distinct aroma. There are varieties of Biryani you can select from including Mutton Biryani, Chicken Biryani, Biryani Khaam, Biryani Zard or Zafrani or the most exotic of all Joban Malti Biryani.

Hyderabadi Haleem at Pista House

During the months of Ramzan in Hyderabad, no one talks about any dish other than the Hyderabadi Haleem. This seasonal delicacy is a porridge made from wheat and meat and topped with dry fruits and is cooked for several hours (often a whole day). You can also order a vegetarian version of Hyderabadi Haleem.

Chakna at Chaknawadi

A spicy stew made out of goat’s tripe with liver and kidneys to add to the taste is a speciality dish among Hyderabadi Muslims that you must try on your visit here. The tender meat with aromas of cinnamon and cardamom is will definitely bring water to a non-vegetarian’s mouth.

Hyderabadi Nihari

Nihari is a popular breakfast dish made of Goat’s feet and is mostly enjoyed during winters. It is also prepared during Ramadan/Eid-ul-Adha. The dish is traditionally slow-cooked overnight on a low heat for 6-7 hours with herbs and spices with lamb/goat trotter, bone marrow (Nalli Nihari), lamb shanks and tongue. Hyderabadi Paya nihari has a unique nawabi flavour and is a must-try!

Hyderabadi Salan

Hyderabadi Salan is a popular curry recipe which served as a side dish with Hyderabadi Biryani. You should definitely try Mirchi ka Salan which is a chilli based gravy bursting with flavours. It's spicy, sweet, salty and a tad bitter all at the same time. You can also try mirchi baingan salan and other varieties of salan.

Hyderabadi Korma

Hyderabadi Mutton Korma is one of the most popular and special dishes that is always included in wedding or other special meal menu in the city. Sheer Khurma

Sheer Khurma is a festive breakfast vermicelli pudding prepared by Muslims on Eid ul-Fitr. This dessert is prepared from vermicelli, whole milk, dates, sugar. Also, cardamom, pistachios, almonds, saffron, raisins, rose water are added for flavour and aroma.

You are wrong Paradise hotel biryani is not the best in Hyderabad, you must try golden hotel at abids, prince hotel at mehdipatnam, shadab hotel near charminar, rumaan hotel at mallepally and many more hotels which serves better than paradise hotel biryani.
