about railway museum

Established in 1979 by the Indian Railways, Railway Museum in Mysore is one of the earliest railway museums to be set up in India. The place has an amazing and informative collection of photographs and objects related to the development of the railways, with an outdoor display of locomotives. The main attraction of the museum is the display of the royal coaches, which belonged to the Maharaja of Mysore. They will give you an idea about the grand fashion in which the royalty travelled. Check out the pair of royal carriages also donated by the Maharaja. There is also the Maharani's saloon carriage, which has a dining car unit, a royal toilet and a kitchen that dates as far back as 1899. A main attraction among children is the battery operated mini train that takes you on a ride around the grounds of the museum.
