A part of the Western group of temples, Nandi Temple is dedicated to Nandi or Nandin is opposite to the famous Shiva temple, Vishvanath Temple. Built on a raised platform, the temple is constructed in typical Chandela architecture built during 950 to 1050 AD by the Chandelas who used to rule this area.

Displaying a statue of Nandi, the bull, in a sitting position facing a sculpture of the Lord Shiva. Stone images, carvings and statues of the bull are also visible in other temples dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

The outer walls of the Nandi Temple feature carvings of Shiva with a sword in one hand and a snake on the shoulder along with aesthetic and sensual images of couples. The small temple is a must visit if you are in the Western part of the Khajuraho temple complex.
