about nirmand

One of the many lesser known marvels of Himachal Pradesh, Nirmand is a sprawling village in the Kullu district. Known for its mythological link to Parshuram Rishi, the village is believed to be the location of where the Rishi settled the Brahmins, while carrying on his battle for eliminating the Kshatriyas. To honour this tradition, the village houses a temple complex and fortress like structure called Parasram Kothi.

The 'kothi' has innumerable art objects and valuable artifacts, some even dating as far back as the 7th Century. The village also has several temples, Ambica Devi temple being one of them. A popular destination among pilgrims, it is lesser known in the tourist circle and hence a great place for some offbeat fun.
