about nrityagram tour

Taking the Nrityagram Tour in Bangalore is just necessary! India's first modern Gurukul (residential school), Nrityagram has been established for Indian classical dances and an intentional community in the form of a dance village. It was founded by Odissi dancer Protima Gauri in 1990. This school offers training in Indian classical dance forms, including Odissi, Kuchipudi, Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Mohiniattam, Kathakali and Manipuri, six days a week, eight hours a day, for a period seven year, following the ancient Guru-shishya tradition. Situated near Hesaraghatta Lake 30 km away from Bengaluru, it has been designed by Gerard Da Cunha.

Today the Nrityagram Dance Ensemble has performed across India, in many countries abroad. It is indeed a beautiful place to watch dancers practice their art. Once you come here, you can drop into the nearby Taj Kuteeram for delicious meals.
