Hi Saurabh,

This is such an open question, with no restriction in terms of state or part of India that we can just keep discussing possible places for a long while ;)

I can only give my 2 cents about some of these kind of places I know of,

1. Rewalsar, Himachal Pradesh

A lovely, serene town - around a lake which sacred to three religions - Buddhism, Hindu and Sikh. It is one hour from Mandi. Mandi is easily accessible from Delhi/Chandigarh/Manali/Dharamshala via Volvo & private cars. It is on a lower altitude - so there are lush green hills all around but no snow capped mountains.

2. Coonoor, TamilNadu

Coonoor may not be that offbeat but its not so touristy as Ooty which is just a few hours away. Coonoor is a smaller town on the Nilgiris just a few hours from Coimbatore. You can also reach Coonoor from Mysore. There are a lot of tea estates you can stay on - they are serene and quite a novel experience.

3. Kumily, Kerala

I haven't been here but a few traveler friends I met on the road recommended this place. Apparently it is quite non-touristy compared to Munnar.

4. Madikeri, Coorg

Coorg is pretty well known, but I found a coffee estate which quite new and hence not so touristy. It was a great place to stay and within the coffee estate one gets away from the world.
