Authentic Moroccan vibe

by Yasmin_M_85 on 26 Dec 2013 (Couple Traveller)

My husband and I travelled to Marrakech in October 2012 and stayed for a week at the Palais Soltan. The room was spacious and felt very authentically moroccan which was lovely. The staff were excellent and couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome - the free trips into town were a nice touch but airport transfers would have been great too. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed for the whole time we were there, and the breakfast offered was very average. We bought bread, cheese, and cold mea...

Run down and out of town

by tasstw on 24 Oct 2012 (Friends Traveller)

As the staff in this hotel were so friendly and helpful, I feel slightly guilty for writing a bad review. Unfortunately though, this hotel does not deserve a good one. The Palais Soltan is far past its prime, with every element of the hotel looking old and tired. The rooms are clean, but have a lingering smell of damp about them and the whole place is poorly lit (I assume to reduce your ability to witness the state of the decor). The nicest element of the Palais Soltan is the rooftop pool, which...

This place is the anti climax.

by jimoi on 26 Sep 2012 (Couple Traveller)

I am sorry to have to write this bad review especially after a wonderful holiday in morrocco and having to go against all the reviews I read before going to this "palais'. To be fair the hotel's interiour is not bad except for the fact that it was very dark in the common parts and room which did not even have windows to the outside. After some difficulty to locate the hotel with our taxi having to call them to get some directions and hence noting that the location is incorrect to what was indi...

Very traditional and personable service

by Shockwaves on 18 Sep 2012 (Family Traveller)

I stayed in this hotel with my family and spent a week here in September 2012. Positives 1) Very personable and friendly staff who go out of their way to help you. 2) Very nice, spacious rooms 3) Very nice traditional building in keeping with the moroccan style 4) Only 10 minutes away from the old city (Medina) and the main square (Jenna ul fna) 5) Only 10 to 20 minutes from the airport (depending on traffic) 6) Close to a shopping centre which has a supermarket in there too 7) Not noisy ins...

Wonderful, authentically Moroccan hotel

by Malvika1994 on 18 Sep 2012 (Family Traveller)

The Riad was one of the most pleasant hotels I've ever stayed in, balancing Moroccan tradition with creature comforts and holiday luxury. It's not a large hotel; it's a bit like a French auberge, with a homey feel where everyone can wander around to their heart's content, have a chat with the staff, whilst still receiving the best treatment. Our entire holiday got off to a bumpy start with British Airways losing all of our baggage, and the hotel staff diligently rang up every day to speak to B...
