ABOUT Sri Parthasarathy Swamy Temple
Parthasarathy Temple is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Krishna and is said to be the oldest temple in Chennai. It's a huge complex with two towers, one in the eastern and the other in western directions. The main deity is Parthasarathy who is the Venkata Krishan avatar which means in Sanskrit, ‘charioteer of Arjuna’. It also has all the five incarnations of Lord Vishnu and is among the 108 Divyadesams or holy abodes of Lord Vishnu. Lord Krishna is worshipped by the name of ‘Parthasarathy’ in this temple.

There are shrines for Sri Vedhavalli Thayaar, Sri Ranganatha, Sri Rama, Sri Gajendra Varadharaja Swamy, Narasimha, Sri Andal, Sri Anjaneya, Alwars, Ramanuja, Swami Manavala Mamunigal and Vedanthachariar. There are separate entrances for Lord Parthasarathy and Lord Narasimha.

"Best temple"
reviewed on Jun 25 2014
It is a temple believed to be built during the Mahabharat wartime and the carvings on the temple walls and stones are simply magnificient. It is a big temple with two entrances and many gods in one place. It is also a famous temple in Chennai and one should visit it atleast once to admire the temple structures and carvings on the temple walls.
