We are planning a 3-day trip to Nainital. Please suggest all the nearby places we can cover.

Nainital, a beautiful hill station in Uttarakhand, is flocked by tourists all year-round. This amazing hill station has a number of lakes and is popularly known as ‘The Lake District’. Bhimtal is located at a distance of just 22 km from Nainital at an elevation of 1370 metres above the sea level. The main attraction of this hill station is the crystal clear lake. A small island at the centre of this lake adds to the overall beauty. You can also visit Nal Damyanti Tal, which is a small natural lake located around 2 km from Bhimtal. Move further and you will reach Sattal, which is a paradise for bird watchers and nature lovers. There are many hotels near Bhimtal Lake where you can enjoy a night stay.


Kick start the morning and head out towards Ranikhet, which is around 56 km from Nainital. With immense natural beauty, this hill station justifies the sobriquet ‘The Queen’s Meadow’. It is a paradise for adventure seekers and nature enthusiasts as there are a number of trekking trails in this hill station. Also, you can spend some peaceful time in one of the age-old temples. Some of the main attractions of this destination includes Haidakhan Babaji Temple, Golf Course and Jhula Devi Temple. Other than sightseeing, there are many things to do in Ranikhet.

Khurpa Tal

Khurpa Tal is another prominent attraction located close to Nainital. You can choose to hike from Nainital to Khurpatal, which is approx. 5 km or can travel by road that comes out to be around 11 km. Terraced fields are the major attraction of this place.

Kainchi Mandir

you have not mentioned anything about kausani, why?
When the trip is just for three days, it is preferred that you cover the nearest hill stations first. Kausani is undoubtedly a wonderful hill station but it is at a distance 115 km from Nainital. It will take around 4 hours to travel from Nainital to Kausani and the whole day will be spent on travelling. Also, you can include Pangot in your itinerary as it is just 15 km from Nainital.
