Places to Visit in Chitrakoot

A town in Uttar Pradesh, which is actually a world full of wonders and divine intervention, Chitrakoot holds a prestigious spot as far as religion is concerned in India. Known to be one of the important teerths, there are many quaint places to see in Chitrakoot. Every place here has some or the other legend or mythological significance attached to them. Take the case of Ram Shaiyya and Sphatik Shila, where Lord Rama and Sita are believed to have stayed during their exile, is one of the most recommended places to visit in Chitrakoot. Another bewildering spot here is the Janaki Kund, an extension of the river Mandakini, where according to mythology, Sita used to bath during the period of her exile. Today, one can see some footprints near the kund, which are believed to be of Sita’s!
