Considering that these three destinations are on your list, it would probably be best to begin from Darjeeling and hence head towards Gangtok.

A small town in West Bengal, Darjeeling is famous for its tea plantations. Developed by the British in the 19th century, this serene town is now home to the vibrant Tibetan and Sikkimese cultures. Hop on to the quiet Himalayan Railway to experience some of the most breathtaking views of the majestic Himalayas on your journey.

If you are here for a day, here are some of the places you shouldn't miss. You can start your day early and head to Tiger Hill to view the sunrise over Kanchendzonga Peak. Truly a breathtaking sight, it is the perfect start to your morning. On your way back, you could visit the Ghoom Monasterty, Peace Memoril and Batasia Loop.

The rest of the day can be spent visit places such as Padmaja Naidu Zoological Park, Ropeway, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (Closed on Thursday), Ropeway, Tibetan Refugee Self Help Center, Tea Estate et al. For a comprehensive list, you can check this page on places to visit in Darjeeling

After a lovely day in Darjeeling, you can head to Kalimpong. About two hours away from Darjeeling, this lovely city is truly a surprise package. From Dr. Graham's Home to Zang Dhok Palri Phodang Monastery, Kalimpong will not disappoint you. You can check out this tailor made one day itinerary for Kalimpong for complete information on places to visit and restaurants.

After a satisfying trip, your next destination being Gangtok, it is advisable to settle for a long but lovely journey. Though distance wise Gangtok is only 75 km away from Kalimpong, it takes close to 3 hours to reach this small town due to unpleasant road conditions.

Besides the lovely weather, Gangtok offers you a memorable holiday. Besides the breathtaking Tsongmo Lake and the mesmerising Do Drul Chorten Stupa, there is much to see and do in Gangtok. Here is a lovely one day Gangtok itinerary for your holiday before you head back home.
