about purani haveli palace

The Purani Haveli Palace located to the the south of Salar Jung Museum, is the sprawling Purani Haveli, built by the second Nizam for his son in 1777. The sixth Nizam Mir Mehboob Ali Khan spent most of his life here. He built a 240-foot long wooden chamber with some 150 walk-in-cupboards, arguably the world’s largest wardrobe! A section of the Purani Haveli serves as an educational institution while another houses the slightly disappointing Nizam’s Museum, with photographs and random objets d’art. The official residence of the Nizam, its historical connotations are worth exploring and the charm of this place is inexpressible. The palace has splendid interiors and resembles the architecture of European mansions built during the 18th century.
