Relaxing stay at the grand old lady

by Naakprapa on 18 Jan 2017 (Couple Traveller)

The history of this hotel is amazing, was told it opened 1917. The rooms bring back a lot of nostalgia and offer a old world luxury hard to find these days. The afternoon tea at the lobby lounge was very enjoyable, so was the dinner with wine paring at the small a la cart restaurant, breakfast has a great selection of freshly prepared foods and the employees are very friendly and efficient. Location is a good as it can be, short walk to Tianamen Square close to the Forbidden city and the Hutong...

The best stay

by Andrew C on 10 Jan 2017 (Family Traveller)

We were so well looked after by Anise and her team. I even got a complimentary birthday cake and wine; they couldn't do enough. The service wasn't intrusive and they rally wanted to help, even "rain" who remembered my breakfast coffee. The room was spacious, clean and very comfortable and just a 5 min walk to the Forbidden city and street markets. Highly recommend it.

Great Location

by Roy K on 09 Jan 2017 (Couple Traveller)

This best thing about this hotel is the location. Perfectly centrally located for Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, both are in walking distance. We booked a Club Level Room and were shown to a room which was very run down and a bit dirty to be honest, on the 7th Floor. We complained to reception who moved us to the 4th Floor, near to the Club Lounge. This room had exactly the same layout but was more modern in design and much better. Given that the hotel was almost empty, why wouldn't t...

Great location in Beijing

by John T on 08 Jan 2017 (Couple Traveller)

Stayed in the hotel formally known as Raffles. It is 400 metres from the Forbidden City and Tian'men square and also 100 metres from Wanfujing shoping street. The staff were all helpful, friendly and interested in you as a guest. The writers bar is nice and we can recommend the afternoon tea. Breakfast buffet is one of the best I have experienced with both Chinese and Western buffets. Rooms are spacious and very comfortable. Some tired aspects such as loose sockets but the hotel only changed ...

Excellent Hotel with Superior Service and Ideal Location

by Brian T on 03 Jan 2017 (Family Traveller)

We arrived with our two children, ages 5 and 7, very late on Christmas Eve. Both our children were certain that Santa would locate them before morning at the hotel. Fortunately, the staff at NUO was able to make their dreams come true. Early on Christmas morning, the concierge Hank helped map out my options to locate kid-friendly gifts. Upon my return, he and his colleagues wrapped the gifts and hid them under the lobby Christmas tree for my daughter and son to “find” after breakfast. It made ...
