about raneh falls

Named after King Rane Pratap, the erstwhile ruler of the region, Raneh waterfalls is a real treat to the eyes. A natural water fall on the confluence of Ken and Khuddar River, it is located in the Chhatarpur district in Madhya Pradesh. The cascading waterfall is quite scenic and is surrounded by wonderful rock formations. Raneh falls are about 20 km from Khajuraho, and are located just where the Ken Gharial Sanctuary begins.

The river forms a 5 km long and 30 metres deep canyon, the main attraction at Raneh waterfalls, through which there are series of waterfalls. The canyon is made of pure crystalline granite in varying shades of colours ranging from pink and red to grey. Apart from a few large and small falls which are formed at the assemblage, some of the seasonal falls also appear during monsoons.
