how to reach ranthambore national park

The park is situated in Sawai Madhopur district in the southeastern part of Rajasthan. It lies about 110 km north east of Kota and 130 km south east of Jaipur. The nearest railhead is Sawai Madhopur, about 11 km away, but it is a small junction. Kota is a better option if you are coming by train as a number of trains stop here.

about ranthambore national park

One of the largest national parks in northern India, Ranthambore National Park houses a variety of flora and fauna. It is a true delight for nature enthusiasts, bird watchers, and adventure seekers. The national park is named after the historic Ranthambore Fortress, which lies within the park. The Banas River surrounds the park on the north and the Chambal River lies on its south.

Today, Ranthambhore is one of the best places to witness tigers in their natural habitat. The leopard, sloth bear, hyena, wolf, jackal, civet cat, Indian marsh crocodile, the plentiful sambar and a variety of snakes live here. Over 360 species of birds and raptors are also found here and migratory birds come from Europe and Siberia to Surwal Lake (35 km) in winter.
