With a beautiful cultural heritage and historical monuments, Agra is one city you should definitely visit. Here are a few reasons to visit Agra.


Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal , one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World and a World Heritage Site, is the foremost reason to visit Agra. This amazing symbol of eternal love was built by emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The gleaming white marble structure is a magnificent example of Mughal architecture and an absolute feast for the eyes.

Agra Fort

Situated near the gardens of the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort is another brilliant example of Mughal architecture. Also known as the Red Fort of Agra, Shah Jahan was held prisoner here by his son, Aurangzeb. Agra is the city perfect for history buffs--there are several monuments worth a visit in Agra.

Taj Nature Park


Taj Nature Park is a green belt area which has many photo points and watch towers from where visitors can enjoy a great view of Taj Mahal. The park abounds in a variety of different flowers.

Ram Bagh



Ram Bagh is the oldest Mughal-style garden in India. The garden is divided by pathways and canals and has beautiful water bodies and fountains all around. This is the perfect place to catch a picturesque sunset in Agra.


Petha

Petha is a translucent soft candy made with white pumpkin. You will find shops all over Agra selling this local delicacy. It comes in various flavours and myriad colours. Angoori petha and kesari petha are a must try. Panchhi Petha, a chain of sweet shops, is highly recommended for sampling and buying petha.
