Back after 20 years

by Joanie881 on 24 Jan 2017 (Friends Traveller)

I was in Lisbon in 1995 and when I saw this hotel still existed, figured it would be good to return. It was a reasonable 70 euro w/ breakfast and the location is excellent, convenient to the train station and a few subway stops. It's a combination of old and new and I liked the quirkiness of our room. I wasn't happy being on the first floor right on the street but it wasn't too bad so we didn't pursue moving to another room. Also the door to the bathroom was glass and only slightly disguised the...

Acceptable hotel in a very touristy area

by Susi L on 20 Jan 2017 (Couple Traveller)

I will start with the negative aspects. As others say there are many restaurants nearby, but each day you have to run the gauntlet of being accosted by restaurant staff as you try to walk down the road - these are mainly very touristy restaurants. We ordered a double bed and got two beds pushed together which was not very comfortable. Our room was also very small with not enough room to open up our big cases properly. We had a room facing the street which is opposite the theatre and was noisy...

Great base to explore lusbon

by Ross H on 07 Jan 2017

Great location, very helpful team. Rooms on street can be noisy at night. Nearby are tram 25, 15, and Gloria cablecar to get you to all parts of city quickly. Timeout market was our new find of the trip - all the leading restaurants showing their favourites in one location

Old hotel but very good location

Hotel gives the appearance of being tired, but was very clean and despite the fittings being bashed about it was perfectly acceptable. The room at the back was quiet, although some noise could be heard through the walls. The staff were extremely helpful and provided assistance to various questions and issues. Breakfast was served at the back of the hotel, and whilst being at the cheaper end of the fresh food range e.g tinned pineapple vs fresh it was OK for a couple of days. Coffee was either...

Puts four stars to shame

by DanteBelfast on 05 Jan 2017 (Friends Traveller)

We were a party of four in two rooms. Reception staff were consistently helpful. Rooms and bathrooms are well furnished, exceptionally clean and sheets and towels changed daily. One room faced the theatre with a music festival on late at night. When asked, Reception moved our friends at one in the morning to a quieter, bigger room. We found breakfast ample, with hot and cold items replenished promptly, and again very friendly staff. Location is excellent for sightseeing and restaurants. For comf...
