about rio carnival

Touted as the biggest annual festival across the globe, Rio Carnival promises unlimited doses of fun, excitement and awesome performances for its guests. Held every year before Lent, the carnival is filled with floats, adornments and revelers from various local Samba schools where every school has their own group of fabulous Samba dancers. Each group has a particular theme attached to it and the dancers try to include that in their performances. Samba is the major dance form in this Carnival along with other dances like the maxixe, the lundu and the Polka. Then there are a world of colorful street festivals which symbolize extravagance, music and dancing to the hilt.

You would love to see Street parades, bandas and blocos that take place through the entire city of Rio during the celebration time and needless to say that it is a truly a sight to behold. Towards the end of celebrations, there is a winner's parade that happens on Saturday and it is equally worth watching. With so much to explore and experience here at Rio Carnival, its time to let your hair down and enjoy this visual feast in Rio!
