A dirty disaster

by Shayne N on 11 Jan 2017 (Business Traveller)

First impression I walked in the room and the toilet was clogged, I phone front desk where I was told they have a plunger I can use to fix it myself. I take a shower after, feeling disgusted. Half way through the cold water disappears and I get burned. The staff is all aware of the problem and say they do not do it on purpose. But also they do nothing to fix the problem. This hotel is a hazard and should not be able to rent rooms to anybody. Not even dogs should stay here.

Run-down-neglected and decrepit!

by mac b on 26 Nov 2016 (Solo Traveller)

This place was so very nice when the once single rooms and bachelor suites where tore apart..gutted and the extensive massive renovating began over 30 years ago. I can't believe they haven't updated this place... what is it about Guelph and some places that just stick with the old interior getting older every day! They want the customers money but don't care what the customer sleeps in! If the owner's of this hotel let the interior deteriate.. it only attracts bugs and they'll have to rip everyt...

Old and kind of sketchy

by amberlee_andrews on 28 Sep 2016 (Couple Traveller)

Needed to find a hotel last minute and got a decent deal on this one - but if I had my time back, I would of spent the extra money and stayed else where. First of all, this hotel is located right next to a busy bus stop and right down town next to the bars and clubs. We had a rental car and were frightened to death that we would come back to it scratched, dinged, or broken into. The lobby is old and outdated and isn't cared for at all, much like the room which has a weird lay out, old carpets, a...

Avoid if at all possible

by serosedserio62 on 01 Sep 2016 (Couple Traveller)

We checked in late in the day, room was extremely hot and the air conditioning took about 35 minutes to bring the temperature down to anywhere near comfortable. The toilet flush mechanism didnt work but we figured what the hell, its only one night and we can just open the tank lid to get it to flush, which we did. On check out the next morning, we advised the front desk about the toilet, not expecting any sort of discount for the inconvenience but the guy at the checkout desk simply noted it, ...

i have made it a habit when i stay in Guelph downtown to stay at the Royal Inn. it is right avross from the VIARAIL station/transit centre. this is my third stay in the last 5 years and although probably a 2 star hotel, it is clean and the rooms are big. the staff is friendly. the cold water tap would not turn on and the hot water tap leaked -- which i mentioned to the staff when i left. they used to serve a continental breakfast, but no longer. and YES, i still stay there again. Guelph is an i...
