This is by far the worst Renaissance at which I've stayed. While in the photos it looks nice and modern, it's actually cheap and tired. Lighting in the room was horrible, the showers are really poorly designed (nowhere to hang your towel within reach), the finishes in the rooms are very cheap, noise from other rooms travels easily, location is weird, and service is poor. For example, it was raining outside and I needed an umbrella. None in the closet, which is understandable given that it rarely...

The hotel looks nice on the pictures you can find online but it's actually outdated and needs to be remodeled . The bed sheets and the bed cover smelled so bad that I had to ask the hotel to replace them; asked twice they never did it. The room in general smelled funny because the hotel is old. No mini fridge. It is located in close to gaslamp but they are other hotels better located for the same price Management was rude and they failed to adjust the rate I paid based on the price advertised ...

We stayed for 5 nights which included xmas eve and day. We paid USD$731.88. The valet parking is very expensive so I would not bother with that unless you really have too. The wifi is not free and i believe it was quite pricey $14 a day from memory - which is really shocking in this day and age. Staff are friendly and the check in lady put as in a top floor room to avoid the windowing cleaning noise. Add the breakfast on to your booking it's worth it - it's really great! So I was to be in SD for a 2 night business trip. However my flight was canceled due to weather on the east coast. I called the hotel to cancel. They asked for the flight # and airline to confirm. I gave it to them. The lady passed me on, to another lady, to another lady, finally to the GM who I left 3 VM's for. His name is Scott. They refused to refund my card near $1000. I stayed in this hotel for nine days . I was happy with the room. The hotel had a nice bar and roof terrace. The staff were very helpful I wanted to go to a concert at Humphrey's by the bay and the manager sorted me a ticket. The hotel is just a short walk from the gaslamp quarter which is good for eating out and good bars and clubs. I had a good holiday in my favourite American city. My only disappointment with the hotel was the swimming pool was only small.
