about shabari falls

The falls was discovered in 1998 by the former District Magistrate of Chitrakoot, Mr. Jagannath Singh. He named this fall Shabari, in honour of the pious lady with the same name, who was one of the most ardent devotees of Lord Rama. It is mentioned in the Ramayana that when Lord Rama and his younger brother, Lakshman, came to visit Shabari, she brought a bowl of berries to feed them. To make sure that the Lord only takes the sweetest of the berries, she bit into each berry, testing its sweetness before offering it to Rama.
