about sheikh saeed al-maktoum's house

Located in the upscale Shindagha Heritage Area, Sheikh Saeed al-Maktoum's House is a must visit place for you if you want interesting insights about Dubai's glorious history and culture. Built way back in 1896, the place acted as an abode for the ruling family of Dubai until the time of Sheikh Saeed’s death in the year 1958. It  is an important historical building with intricate detailing in designs and traditional architecture.  It is the former residential quarters of Saeed bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, former ruler of Dubai.

This historic place is now a museum which showcases Dubai during different eras of 1940s and 50s. It is a n old structure and a marvellous example of historic architecture with the use of typical Ottoman style architectural techniques.   You will find a beautiful collection of paintings related to pre-oil times. Then there are other rooms which display a collection of stamps, coins as well as documents which date back to 1791. You will also find an interesting feature on pearl diving.
