A bunch of women is equal to so many things, from endless gossip to those shopping sprees that never seem to disappoint. I’m sure a list of places to go shopping in India is something that is sure to brighten up every woman’s day. So all you girlies out there, put on your shopping shoes and get those bags ready, its time to go an a shopping journey of a lifetime!

Just for your convenience we are dividing the shopping places in India into three categories depending on what budget you’ve got in mind for the day -

- Street Shopping -

When quantity becomes more important that quality then street shopping is for sure your best pick. Reasonable rates, tonnes of bargaining and bags full of merchandise ensuring that you’ll never run out of stuff to wear or use is what street shopping is all about.

Sarojini Nagar Market, New Delhi

So you want to buy GAP t-shirts, H&M dresses and Tommy Hilfiger pullovers but just can’t think about spending thousands of bucks? Then think again, as all you need to spend is a few hundred on each, as nothing in Sarojini Nagar Market should cost you over INR 300. However don’t forget to brush up your bargaining skills because they are bound to come in handy. From clothes to accessories and shoes the market sells everything. And if you dig a little deeper you’ll also find kitchen utensils, cups saucers and so much more in this Delhi market.

Fashion Street, Mumbai

The pleasant Mumbai weather is ideal for some street shopping and with places like Fashion Street that are among the best places to go for shopping in India you’ll never think twice before deciding to go to shop. Again here too your power to bargain will be your best friend. A clean market that solemnly swears to use only paper or cloth bags, it is a place where you can buy tonnes of clothes, junk jewellery and even shoes.

Bapu Bazaar, Jaipur

Not only one of the most popular shopping places in India but also a very renowned tourist destination, Bapu Bazaar in Jaipur is the place to go if you want to hog on Rajasthani street merchandise. From colourful mojri, kurtas and lehngas to bedcovers, Rajasthani puppets and jewellery, especially bangles, there is so much to buy at this vibrant market that you’ll be spoilt for choice. The prices are already so reasonable that you won’t really have to bargain much.

Anjuna Market, Goa

The Anjuna Market in Goa is so colourful and lively that from the moment you arrive you know your shopping experience is going to be unforgettable. There is so much to see and buy at the market, from spices to accessories and beach wear, all at such good prices that you won’t even realise that you’ve shopped bags full. The sight of the Anjuna Beach from the market is also beautiful, once you’re done shopping head to the beach for some relaxation. Isn’t that what Goa is all about?

Chandni Chowk, New Delhi

When we talk about the best places to go shopping in India there is absolutely no way one can miss out on Chandni Chowk. The market is so illustrious and huge that you’ll need an entire day if you plan on exploring it through and through. Whether you choose to go to Kinari Bazaar to explore the colourful boxes, trays and ribbons or Dariba to buy some silver jewellery or the clothes market, each gali of the market is sure to leave you in awe. And when hunger strikes head to Natraj for some dahi bhalla or Parathe Wali Gali for some deep fried Indian delicacies.

Commercial Street, Bangalore

Many people believe that you can’t shop cheap in Bangalore, but just to clarify you really need to take a trip to Commercial Street and explore one of the best shopping places in India for some steal buys. From belts, junky earrings and bangles to everyday wear shoes, bags and apparels, there is no fashion need that this market will not cater to. Although you could try bargaining a bit, it won’t really work too much. But the prices are pretty reasonable anyways.

High Street Phoenix Mall, Mumbai

When shopping translates ‘the mall’ to you then don’t forget to take a trip to the High Street Phoenix Mall, one of the very famous places to visit in Mumbai. Here you can shop to your hearts desire at all your favourite clothes, accessories, homeware and shoe stores among so much more, and when you feel like grabbing a bite walk into the food court that offers an elaborate food spread. And once your refueled, let the shopping begin once again!

South Extension Market, New Delhi

Located in the heart of South Delhi the South Extension Market is distinctly divided into 1 & 2 with both markets being across the street and easily connected with each other through an underground subway. South City Mall, Kolkata

Although the city is plush with elaborate malls but nothing beats a visit to the MG & Brigade Road stretch, among the best shopping places in India. Walking down this road you are sure to come across all the places that you love shopping at. The friendly faces all around and the cool Bangalore breeze set the shopping atmosphere just right. Now this kind of shopping is for when we are completely and totally in the spoilt brat mood (which we are allowed to be in very often!!). All the brands that we often refer to as ‘touch me not’ can sometimes be indulged in with that extra cash you’ve got stashed away somewhere.

DLF Emporio, New Delhi

Whether its Gucci, Prada, Jimmy Choo or Louis Vuitton all the brands that are sure to burn a hole right through your pocket are available at the DLF Emporio mall in New Delhi. Among the best places for shopping in India if you’ve got those extra bucks, walk in into the arms of luxury. Nothing should cost you less than INR 20,000 here so do carry tonnes of cash or your credit card along with that princess attitude!
