about simlipal national park

Simlipal National Park in Mayurbhanj district (Orissa) harbours different bird and animal species within its lush greenery. It has been named so because red silk cotton trees or Semul are found in abundance here. It houses Royal Bengal Tigers, Chausingha, Gaurs, Leopard, Barking deer, Giant squirrel, Common langur, Asian Elephants and more.  Among the birds, you can spot many species like Hill Mynah, Alexandrine Parakeet, Crested Serpent Eagle, Peacock, Red Junglefowl, The Grey Hornbill, Indian Trogon and Malabar Pied Hornbill. In addition to birds and animals, the park is also home to turtles and snakes. Sprawling across 845.70 square kilometres, the national park is also home to gushing waterfalls like Barehipani and Joranda which are real visual treats. So if you are done with your wildlife tour, its time to head to these waterfalls for some relaxed and quiet time.
