about soma

The word Soma is associated with the moon, where the theatrically-lit tandoor and show-kitchen remain the focal point. Indian instrumental music serenely lilts in the background of this off-the-lobby Indian restaurant of the Grand Hyatt. Tandoori, grilled and North Indian fare are offered here. The colourful and eclectic art (in this large, splendidly lit, high-ceilinged, contemporary restaurant) reflects that influence. So do the hours - it's a dinner-only restaurant. Chef Pushpendu and his team bring you authentic flavours such as Raan e Sikandari, Jhinga Khada Masala, Tawa Gosht, Dum Aloo Bhojpuri, Paan Kulfi and Zaffrani Phirni. There are many other dishes like Niza Kebab (Murgh Malai marinated with cheese), Tandoori Jhinga, Khade Masala ke Chaanp (marinated tandoor-style lamb ribs), Lazeez Pasliya (mutton ribs with Indian spices and brown onion tomato gravy), Pindi Chhole (authentic Punjabi-style) and Paneer Patiala (paneer stuffed with cashew nuts and spices; shallow-fried and cooked in tomato onion gravy). Old favourites such as the ever-popular North Indian spiced fare of Sikandri Raan, Ajwaini Pomfret, Rogan Josh Tadka, Sarson Boti and more remain. Check out the Gosht Biryani, Dal Makhni and the Murgh Malai Hara Dhaniya or popular Rauniqi Seekh. Looking for the unusual in desserts? Go for the Paan Ice Cream or the new Baked Rasgoulla with a caramelized crust, all garnished with saffron.

Had dinner yesterday. Good hospitality. Amazing food. Lot of interesting dishes. Little expensive but worth to pay since quality of food is awesome. I must say one of the best restaurant in Mumbai.
