This one goes out for all the sports fanatics--here is a definitive list of the sporting events in 2015. Whether you are a fan of Virat Kohli’s iconic sixes or Christiano Ronaldo’s brilliant legwork, we have all the major sports events covered.

1. Cricket

Even before the year 2015 began, all everyone could talk about was the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup. To be held between 14 February and 29 March at some of the most gorgeous locations in Australia and New Zealand, the Cricket World Cup brings together countries for the most glorious battle ever. Take a road trip across New Zealand and stop over to be a part of famous cricketing moments of 2015.

Those who enjoy test matches, the 5 tests between England and Australia in The Ashes 2015 are going to be a must-watch. Slated to be held between 8 July and 24 August, the matches are an excellent reason to visit some of the most picturesque places in England.

2. Football


For the football fanatics, the UEFA Champions League finalsis the event of the year. The finals will be held on 6 June at Olympiastadion in Berlin, a stadium that was originally built for the 1936 Olympics. An art lover’s paradise and a dream for history buffs, travellers can find lots of interesting things to do in Berlin.

The 44th edition of the international football tournament for South American national teams, Copa América is slated to start on 11 June with the finals to be held on 4 July in Chile. The winner of Copa América will qualify for the FIFA Confederations Cup to be held in the delightful country of Russia.

3. Tennis


Think tennis and the first thing that comes to your mind is Wimbledon! The Wimbledon Championships or simply Wimbledon as it famously known, is the oldest tennis tournament in the world. To be held between 29 June and 12 July at the All England Club in London, this tournament is one of the best reasons to visit United Kingdom. This only major tennis tournament to be played on grass is one of the most awaited sporting events in 2015.

While the Wimbledon is the most famous tennis tournament, the other 3 Grand Slams are not to be missed either. The Australian Open is slated to be held from 19 January at Melbourne while the French Open (Roland Garros) is to be held in Paris from 25 June. Visit the iconic city of New York between 31 August and 13 September to attend the US Open, the last among the two-week series of Grand Slams.

4. Formula 1


Does the sound of car whizzing past you at a little over 300 km/h excite you? Then the 20 rounds of Grand Prix held across the world are going to be a treat to your ears. Starting with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on 15 March, the racing season gets over in the city of Abu Dhabi on 29 November. Attend the Singapore Grand Prix held on 20 September at the Marina Bay. This gives you the chance to explore the hawkers markets and skyscrapers at the city of Singapore , which incidentally also had the first F1 street circuit in Asia.
