Chikmagalur, also referred to as ‘coffee country’, is a tourist paradise in every sense. It is about 3 hours 30 minutes journey from Mysore and a popular getaway from the city. The good thing is that there is an easy availability of Mysore to Chikmagalur cabs. The town is bestowed with many spots where you can make yourself feel closer to divine nature. So, here are some not-to-miss places when you are planning a day’s trip to Chikmagalur.

Once you are settled and ready to explore the hill town, its time to make your way to Kallathigiri Falls. However, it can take up most of your time as it would require some travelling. The falls are quite a sight as you will love to to see water cascading down from the top of the Chandra Drona hill from a height of 122 meters amidst fascinating scenery.

Once you are done, make your way to Baba Budan Giri (Dattapeeta), which is one of the mountain peaks between the Himalayas and the Nilgiris. The peak derives its name from the Muslim saint, Baba Budan, who is believed to have resided here more than 150 years ago. If you are here, you can also visit Manikyadhara Falls which are a sight to behold.

Your next destination could be Hebbe Falls which calls for some moments of relaxation for some peaceful moments in nature’s lap. It is quite a sight to see the waterfall amidst the gorgeous natural milieu.

As Chikmagalur is rightly known as “coffee country” due to its lush coffee plantations, it might be a good idea if you opt to stay in hotels or cottages which are located either very close or within the premises of these plantations. Some of such options include Valley of Birds Homestay, The Spectrum and The Serai among others. A serene walk or a short drive from your hotel would offer you the best sights that you cannot see anywhere else.

For some relaxed moments over a steaming cuppa of aromatic coffee, step in at Coffee Barn Cafe. If you are planning to visit this place in evening, which is also a great idea, you should arrange for conveyance. It is located at Kambihalli Estate. As for the dining options, you can visit The Red Berry and the Club House at Planters Court. Both these restaurants are nice options to explore for delectable food and refreshing beverages. Offering a variety of cuisine and delicious warm food makes them quite popular food joints in Chikmagalur. The restaurants are located at KM Road.
