A trip to Srinagar is a lifetime experience. Each and every moment spent in this alluring land has a unique flavour to it. Hence, the little time you have here must be spent wisely, so that you can cover the maximum number of the popular tourist attractions in the city. If you have just a day at Srinagar there are certain things that you ‘Must Include’ in your agenda. So, lets see how you make this one day in Srinagar the most memorable one.

[N.B- * Before we begin with the itinerary an important tip that one should remember is that Srinagar is more of a diurnal city. So, the sightseeing and other activities are more fun before dusk.

Start your day early and head out for the alluring Mughal Gardens; enchanting during the spring time, these gardens are the pride and joy of the city. Built by the Mughal kings centuries ago, these gardens are well maintained by the tourism department of the state and offers a memorable experience to its visitors.

The Mughal gardens include Chashm-E-Shahi, Shalimar Bagh and the Nishat Bagh. All of these gardens are located in the boulevard road in Srinagar. Start with Nishat Bagh going ahead with Shalimar Bagh and then Chashm-e-Shahi. If you happen to be here in the month of April you can visit the Indira Gandhi memorial Tulip Garden, that remains open only for a few days during this time, before going to Chashm-e-Shahi.

Located close to the Chashm-e-Shahi garden is the famous Pari Mahal you can spend few beautiful moments here after the ‘Srinagar garden visiting spree’.

While you are in the middle of your garden hopping session, don't forget to grab some lunch. Neither Kashmiri food nor the hospitality of Kashmiri people need any hype. Now, you have three options for a delicious meal here. Option 1: J&K tourism restaurants inside the Mughal gardens that offer wholesome and delicious meals at reasonable rates. Option 2: Famous Krishna Dhaba at the boulevard road, offering lip smacking food at pocket friendly rates. Option 3: For the ones who wants to have a lavish meal, you have Lhasa and Shamyan restaurant located at the boulevard road where you can have a scrumptious meal.

By afternoon you can head for Challi point where you can get a shikara ride on the Dal Lake. It is another enchanting experience in Srinagar and one should not miss it.

You can end your day by visiting the markets of Srinagar. Lal Chowk and the Polo View market are great shopping stops for tourists here. Pick up some souvenirs for back home that will remind you of this wonderful day spent in Srinagar. However, make sure to reach the markets some time before 7.30 PM because after that the shops begin to close their shutters.
