If you can make a proper plan for your trip to Chikmagalur, you can enjoy to the fullest. Well, even if Chikmagalur is a very small town, there are places and things on your list that are not to be missed. Are you ready, read on!

Day 1

The first thing that you can head for on your arrival to Chikmagalur right after a filling breakfast is Kallathigiri Falls. It is situated 10 km away from the city along the majestic gorges of the Baba Budhan ranges. It doubles up as a pilgrimage site as well with a Veerabhadra temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, constructed in a gap between rocks. On your way back you can enjoy some time in the lush coffee plantations, just contemplating the scenic beauty that is so widely spread across you.

Day 2

On the second day of your trip, you can opt for trekking if you are interested in exploring this beautiful hill station to the fullest. The trails of Kemmanagundi is not something that you get to witness very often. With the splendid Western Ghats standing over the ranges, the beauty of this trail will make you remember this place forever. In between your sightseeing expeditions, you can have your lunch at Town Canteen or Food Palace. Town Canteen is the place where you can enjoy the best Dosas in town and Food Palace is also famous for its authentic South Indian preparations. If outdoor activity is not your thing, then you can visit Hebbe Falls, Baba Budan Giri (Dattapeeta), Veerabhadra temple and Manikyadhara Falls (all these, except Hebbe Falls, are located in close proximity with each other).

Day 3

Once you are done with the local attractions of Chikmagalur, its time to head to Muthodi Wildlife Sanctuary which is at a distance of approx 38 km from the town. Settled in the Western Ghats the sanctuary spreads over a sprawling area of 492 sq. kilometres of dense verdant forest. Overlooking the lofty hills of Baba Budan and Kemmanagundi on the east, the forest here offers majestic views of the surroundings. The best time to visit this sanctuary is during the months of October to March.

So, plan your day accordingly and make most of your time here.
