I can see why it's only 3 stars!

This hotel has clearly seen better days! A grand building in need of grand repairs! To be fair the bed was comfortable enough which is pretty important. Shame I could hear the lift every time it was used. Bathroom was pretty basic with ill fitting flooring with seriously dirty edges. Shower was chin height! Big mystery stain on the wall in the room 🙁. No ceiling light. Tiny tv. Enough said? You get what you pay for (£60 in my case)

Quick checking in . Staff helpful. Dated appearance but comfy. Nice and warm. Lovely hot water in bathrooms . Very big hotel ok once you get your bearings ! Tea making facilities in rooms with tea and coffee replaced every day. Room service available if you need it . Spa facilities good and gym .

Lots of character but lacking a little class

This is such a historic building with tales from the past of Dickens, Harold Wilson and its world renowned turtle soup, it seems a shame that it is not making full use of its bars. I'm aware that a hotel as big as this has to cater for coach tours, stag nights, functions etc., but travelling in a couple, I'd expected to be able to enjoy a drink within the hotel itself. This hotel has the potential to be absolutely spectacular but sadly it is currently far from it. The stairs and corridors look like they have not been hoovered for years, the dust is so thick. The gorgeous chandeliers really need a clean. I had a single room and was so surprised to find there was no room light other than a plug in lamp, it was so dark all the time. The fan in the bathroom was thick with dust and so unhealthy. The food was basic and bland, def not worth paying for. I would sug...

Quite a surprise in all honesty!

by Findusnow68 on 24 Jan 2017 (Couple Traveller)

Well I never thought I's stay in the Adelphi as it hasn't got the greatest reputation in Liverpool. However I am the first to admit it's a falsity. I can't say I was over impressed with the receptionist or the tacky piece of paper that told us a countdown to Xmas day! However once we got past that bit of judgemental thoughts it was all very good. The room was cosy and lovely and warm. The bed was comfy and we had a great nights sleep.Stayed because unbeknown to me my GF had planned a lot of my f...
