No hot water the entire stay

by MaryJo L on 14 Dec 2016 (Business Traveller)

We were without hot water the entire stay, and even without any water for part of it. The hotel staff could have cared less, and made the excuse that the hotel was old and the water system could not accommodate all the rooms due to being full. If they know this is a problem, why do they book to full capacity and sacrifice quality. I will NEVER EVER stay there or recommend this hotel to anyone.

Classic old building, good food and service, throwback to Better Times; great location

by ralphwilhelm1 on 05 Dec 2016 (Business Traveller)

Have not spent the night at the Columbia Club but have been to numerous receptions, dinners, and had drinks a number of times in their bar area. We are not members, but treated well. Need to be conscious of their dress code; best to call or read on their web site. Location is superb if you want to be directly downtown and potentially walk to meetings, see friends, etc. Parking is available as is valet parking if you wish during certain times. Architecture is a trip back in time: old wood and...

Great Location - Lobby Beautiful, Rooms Could Use an Update

by MaudieBell on 14 Nov 2016 (Business Traveller)

First of all, the location is very good. It is right on Monument Circle, downtown Indy. Valet parking was necessary for us at $30 per day as we drove in from out of town. The staff was very nice and treated us kindly. It is an interesting place and it is good to keep an open mind about it. It is very old, built in 1925 and the rooms need to be updated, but it is a historical treasure. You have to wait at least 10 minutes for the hot water to make it up from, I assume, the basement, but o...

Delightful Destination

by jettan on 07 Nov 2016 (Business Traveller)

I stayed at the Columbia Club while attending the Magna cum Murder Festival for readers and writers of mystery/thriller books. Located in the heart of Indy, it is a throwback to the kinder, gentler days when service was the premium sought by travelers. The dark woods of the paneled check-in desk, the brass elevator doors, the quiet halls contributed to the exclusive vibe. The staff was unfailingly polite, personable and seemed genuinely interested in my comfort. No money is exchanged in the Club...

Depends on what you're looking for

by Tarah S on 02 Oct 2016 (Business Traveller)

This hotel is very beautiful. It's very old and looks rich and lush with dark wood and marble staircases. That being said, the rooms are very small and basically just a room and bathroom. (People weren't so needy in the 1920s). The walls were paper thin. The people in the room next door were definitely using their OUTSIDE voices and we could hear everything they said. One night around midnight we finally Called the front desk, they immediately sent security up to ask them to lie down. Great ...
