A Place commonly used for Fairs and Exhibitions

The Kanakakunnu Palace is located at Vellayambalam , Nearly 3 Kilometers from Trivandrum city. The palace is located on a small hill named kanakakunnu. The Napier Museum , Jawahar Balabhavan are adjacent to this small hill. This place is commonly used for Government fairs , Exhibitions , Mango Fest , Flower Fest , Dog shows , bird shows etc every year. I have visited this place several times. During these festival times , the roads , nearby buildings, trees would be covered with colour lights. Very beautiful to watch . Small amusement park including Death well would be made these times. Kids can enjoy small rides. This is a great place to visit during these times.

Kanakakunnu palace is the centre for most of the cultural functions happening in the city. There is a ground surrounding the palace and its opened to the public and you can see people coming here for regular morning and evening walk. Nishagandhi auditorium is situated in the compound, where you can enjoy many cultural events including paid ones.
