about The Oberoi Amarvilas Agra

Luxurious stay with stunning views of The Taj Mahal.

In a Nutshell

The most opulent hotel in the city, Oberoi Agra is all about exclusivity. It has been ranked as one of the top fifteen resorts in Asia for six consecutive years. All the rooms have stunning views of The Taj Mahal, the best in the city.

Located a mere 600 m from the Taj Mahal, one can catch glimpses of the monument from various nooks of the hotel. The proximity of the hotel to the monument is only one of the USPs of the hotel. The hotel itself is grand, every corner of it boasts of elegance and sophistication.

Room and Amenities

The architecture of the hotel has been inspired by that of Mughals and Moors. The fountains, pavilions and domes lend a romantic aura to the resort. The rooms are categorized into premier, deluxe and luxury. Each room is fitted with appropriate 5-star amenities like a LCD television, DVD player, personalized butler service, walk-in closet and mini bar. The tariff includes 30 minutes free Wi-Fi internet. The en-suite bathroom has a bathtub as well as a shower cubicle. Exclusive ayurvedic toiletries are provided for each guest. The rooms have Burma teak flooring and the bathrooms and balconies have marble flooring. Every element of the room has been built to make it seem like an extension of the Taj Mahal itself. The suites have separate living rooms as well as two private open air terraces. Sipping a cup of tea in the terrace with the Taj Mahal in front is a magical experience.

Oberoi hospitality is legendary and Oberoi Agra takes it to new heights. Special care is given to each guest and no one is treated lesser than royalty itself. The Oberoi Spa offers rejuvenation services at a charge. The attendants are very well trained in their art. You can soak in a hot tub as you gaze at the Taj. Unlike most spas, the one at Oberoi Agra is open round the clock. Wake up to a yoga session in the morning with the the Taj Mahal as a backdrop. There is a cultural programme every evening in the courtyard which can keep families entertained. The swimming pool is well maintained and built in the same ornate Mughal style.

Bellevue, the multi-cuisine restaurant, offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. For a special occasion, book a table at Esphahan, the speciality Indian restaurant. Open for two fixed seating at dinner, it is recommended that you book your table in advance. The restaurant is candle-lit and attempts to recreate a fantasy world. You may also choose to order food in the comfort of your room. 24 hour room service is offered by the hotel.

Highlights and Tips

Oberoi Agra provides personal golf carts to The Taj Mahal and can procure the tickets for you for no extra cost. Small gestures that go a long way in making your stay pleasant. Book a room here for a memorable stay and to feel like royalty.

Not much is needed to be said about a hotel that offers direct views of Taj Mahal for practically every window and even some bathrooms. Based on Mughal architecture, this levis property features fountains, pools, lawns with spectacular interiors.

This is a 5 star plus hotel,, compare it it any 5 star in the world and you will be happy here.. We were in Agra to see the Taj Mahal,, and there is no other reason to go to Agra,, it is an old ugly city, but the beauty of the Taj makes the trip worth it. This hotel has the perfect location for viewing the Taj Mahal,, get a room with a balcony so you can sit out and see it at different times of the day and beat the heat and crowds

Lovely Hotel with a great view of Taj Mahal
reviewed on Jun 20 2014
This hotel is just spectacular, with excellent service and well decorated rooms. The best thing is the view of Taj Mahal , that is visible from almost every window. It simply gives the best comfortable feeling. Also the pools are stunning. Also the food was real good and tables were perfectly arranged. Though the price is bit high, the view of the monument and the excellent services definitely matches with it.

Considered one of the top hotels in the world, and it doesn't disappoint. Obviously, the view of the Taj Mahal from your plush room doesn't hurt, but it certainly isn't the only reason. The lobby is opulent, and the grounds are stunning, with quiet reflecting pools, and lots of intimate spaces to stroll and explore. Nightly music and dancing by the pool.

This is a spectacular hotel
reviewed on Jun 19 2014
This is a spectacular hotel, with amazing service, excellent food, lovely rooms, and views to die for. From the moment you arrive and are greeted with freshly squeezed watermelon juice, you will be served with grace and efficiency. Individual tipping is not allowed, so you'll have no need to carry and disperse those small bills throughout your stay. One of the best aspects is the unobstructed view of the Taj Mahal. Add to that an electric cart ride to and from the East Gate of the Taj Mahal. The food was exceptional and dining service was superb. When asking questions about food, chefs would come directly to the table to answer and give details. Every inch of this hotel is immaculately maintained. Evenings and mornings have the added bonus of musicians that perform on traditional Indian instruments. Also included in room price are dance exhibitions. The only downside to this hotel is the price. This is a splurge, but one well worth every Rupee. Recommendation. Arrive in Agra around 1:00 p.m. Check in at 2:00 p.m. and live in luxury for the remainder of the afternoon and into the evening. Wake the next morning for a sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal. Return for a shower, finish with breakfast in the dining room and then return to the hustle and bustle of India, fully refreshed.

Amazing for Agra stay

The only place to stay is the Oberoi Amarvilas though it is a bit pricey. The hotel is situated less than 1/2 mile from the Taj Mahal and every room has a direct view of the monument. That makes the experience very special

Most visitors come to Agra for one reason, to see the Taj Mahal. For that purpose, the only place to stay is the Oberoi Amarvilas though it is a bit pricey. The hotel is situated less than 1/2 mile from the Taj Mahal and every room has a direct view of the monument. That makes the experience very special. The rooms are spacious, well furnished with walk-in closet. Elegant bathroom has separate shower and tub, with white marble vanities and white/emerald marble walls. We stayed at the Oberoi Amarvilas for two nights during our visit in March 2014. In the morning we wanted to visit the Taj Mahal at sunrise. The hotel staff took us over to the gate by golf cart at 6AM before the line got too long. The hotel has two restaurants, one serving Indian cuisine and the other has an international menu. We had one meal in the international restaurant. The food was fine but not outstanding. Service was rather casual, not in keeping with the high standards of the rest of the service areas.
