how to reach tiger cave temple

The Tiger Cave Temple is located about 3 km from Krabi Town, and is easily accessible by mini-bus, taxi or tuk-tuk. Alternatively you can take a traditional Thai public bus also known as a songthaew from either Krabi town or from Ao Nang. The public bus makes for a really cheap and interesting option where you’ll see plenty of Thai sights and sounds along the way in addition to meeting some locals. The bus stops at the road next to Wat Tham Sua and from there it takes about 20 minutes on foot.

about tiger cave temple

Known for the tall Buddhas and Tiger Paw Prints on caves, the Tiger Cave Temple is located atop a handful of stairs on a hillock of Krabi. The temple is very different compared to traditional Thai temples, as it's set in an overgrown forest, and the main hall of the temple is built into a large limestone cave that is surrounded by the monks chambers. What's more, these monastic cells are crafted into the cliffs and caves at precarious little points, and the long hall is decorated with skeletons and skulls, highlighting the transience of human living.
The temple is reached by 1272 small steps you'll need to climb, so make sure you pull out those sports shoes. A troop of monkeys will be your constant company as you climb the stairs, and so will be the awesome views. Weather being kind, this is one of the best places to get a 360-degree panoramic view of the hillocks and seas of Krabi, all decked in a rich tapestry of greens and blues.
