North Goa is a beach paradise with options of adventure sports, lively bars, night flea markets and, of course, pristine beaches. We present you a list of top 10 experiences in North Goa which would do a lot of good to your Goa tour package, for some local flavours of the place. If you are planning a trip in the rains, then even better. Not only do the hotels offer great discounts, but the beaches are secluded as well.

1. Visit Paliem Beach and Lake

Arambol’s most wonderful feature is the tiny, yet unexplored Paliem Beach at the foot of the Wagh colomb Hill. Here, there’s a small freshwater lake barely 200 m from the sea, fed by springs, at the base of the surrounding hillsides.

2. Take a trip to Tiracol Fort

Goa’s northern most point, Tiracol Fort is steeped with history. It was captured by the Portuguese from the Maratha clan of Bhonsales in 1746. The fort itself has been converted into a lovely, tasteful hotel, Fort Tiracol. Even if you are just visiting, you can always have lunch here.

3. Water Sports and Paragliding at Arambol

Apart from dolphin-spotting trips, which are offered by nearly every operator here, there’s also a surf club on the Arambol Beach that offers windsurfing, boogie board, kite buggy rides and sand speed sailing. You can visit Arambol in maximum 50 minutes from Panaji by taking a Panaji to Arambol cab.

4. Spend Some time at Morjim Beach

Morjim Beach is known as Goa’s turtle nesting beach because each year up to a dozen or more Olive Ridley turtles nest here, helped by a group of volunteers who guard the nests and help the hatchlings get into the sea. A must visit if you want to take a closer look at Olive Ridley Turtles.

5. Perfect Combination of Vagator and Chapora

The magnificent Chapora Fort atop a hill dominates Vagator. Even first-time visitors will recognise the fort in movies such as Dil Chahta Hai. At present, only crumbling ramparts survive and it is a delightful place for the views it offers on all sides. Barely 8 km from Panaji, you can easily get a Panaji to Chapora Fort cab to reach this place in maximum 15 minutes. Simple!

Anjuna’s flea market began in the 1970s as a place where hippies hawked their possessions. Now it is one of the biggest flea markets in Goa which is there every Wednesday over acres of coconut plantations. From drinks to artefacts; you can buy them all!
