Australia’s landscape ranges from vast deserts to endless beaches, rocky plateaus, city skyscrapers, dense tropical rainforests and the underwater world of the Great Barrier Reef. The fauna and flora diversity (Kangaroos and duck-billed platypus!) also brings with it an ethnic diversity of population. Oh, and not to forget some amazing beer and fine wines.

One of the most urbanised countries of the world, Australia is quite famous for its beaches, cosmopolitan attractions. It is also known for its harbours and the small little towns that house the area. Australia is the sixth largest country if you consider land area and that's quite big! With time, Australia has lost a considerable amount of forest for agricultural purposed but then quite a lot of it is present in the many national park regions and other underdeveloped areas of the country.

Australia boasts of a rich history which takes it being isolated from the rest of the world because of the last Iceage, then settlement of the aboriginal tribal groups, then to being travelled by Chinese, Dutch and English along with many others in the course of its development. Maybe that is the reason why Australia enjoys a multi cultural population that practices almost every religion. Talking of being multicultural, we have to mention the three cities; Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Surprisingly, Australian people can be a little socially conservative when compared to some of the other European cultures; they also exhibit a finer balance in defining their European origins and the increase in Asian influence. On the other hand, you will see most of the people here addressing you by the first name and will actually expect you to do the same.

Talking of entering the country, everybody requires a visa in advance except for the people from New Zealand. Once you enter the country, there is just so much to explore. First of all, Australia is one of the countries where you can enjoy wildlife in their natural setting. The exclusivity of the flora and fauna on the island comes from the fact of it being isolated from the rest of the world. Who does not know about Kangaroos and Koalas, right? Australia is not only famous for its landmarks such as Sydney Harbour Bridge or the Opera House but is also known for old lanes and the modern art that decorate them and in some ways define the culture of the cities. One such is Hosier Lane in Melbourne which cannot be missed. Not only that, there are some beautiful beaches such as Bondi Beach in Sydney, which is quite famous among surfers.

There are also some thermal pools such as Berry Springs & Mataranka that are a treat especially because of their setting. Australia is also known for its adventure sports such as Mountain Biking, rock climbing, sky diving, horse riding and some of the less adventurous ones such as Bushwalking and snorkelling. Hot air ballooning is also something that almost everybody does when in Australia.

In Australia, everyone speaks in English. When at a restaurant or some similar place, it is not expected of you to tip the person who served you. That’s the same in taxis and other local transport. You might get amazed at the fact that Kangaroos are not only a sight in the wild in Australia but can also be seen on people’s plates. Yes! It is one of the native foods of the country along with crocodiles and Emu. You will find any cuisine in Australia very easily. Ranging from Chinese, Thai, Italian to Greek, Indian and Lebanese; the restaurants here serve almost every cuisine. Australian people love their beer and you will love it too once you get a chance to drink different varieties available. Wines are also a part of food culture here. Whatever we say is not going to be enough for this beautiful country; so, what are you waiting for? Start packing!
