The 'Golden City' of Jaisalmer lies in the far west of the country, encompassing the astounding 12 CE Jaisalmer Fort. This enticing city of Rajasthan is the most popular tourist spot in the state. Embraced in the vast and mighty desert, the city depicts the grandeur of the royal medieval era and holds great historic value.
It goes without saying that the city holds great prominence in the history of India with its rich cultural heritage and ethnicity. The embodiment of exotic beauty, Jaisalmer attributes a vast terrain of golden sand dunes where one can enjoy rides on the colorfully adorned camels. The Jaisalmer Fort is literally the crowning glory of the city, as it rises majestically from the dunes, like a hypnotising mirage. The fort has 99 bastions that circle the fort's many lanes which are still inhabited by the locals. Notes of flute and ravana hatha emanate from these lanes, giving you company as you climb the steep lanes leading up to the fort.

Numerous palaces, fortresses and temples are scattered in the city, most of which were built by the Rajputs, whose present generations still continue to reside in the land of their mighty ancestors. The annual desert fair that takes place in the city attracts tourists from all over the world. It is a vivacious carnival of vibrancy and colors that features camel shows and enthralling rides and promises an experience of a lifetime.  Oft left neglected, Jaisalmer has woken up from a slumber and has become a favourite tourist destination in Rajasthan.

Hop on to a camel and take a ride through the desert sands. Camp out at the Sam Sand Dunes and enjoy a cup of warm, salty tea made with camel's milk. Rather than being repulsive, the tea is delicious and might even demand a second round! Enjoy an enthralling folk dance and music performance wrapped up cosily around a campfire. Dine at a rooftop restaurant for breathtaking views of the city. Shop and indulge in a friendly banter with the shopkeepers selling exquisite jewellery, handicrafts and clothes. The humble gentry will please you with their hospitality.
