Karimnagar, situated on the banks of Manair river, is a beautiful city of newly formed state, Telangana. The city derived its name from late Nizam, Syed Karimullah Shah. The history of this place goes back to Old stone age. The city has been in limelight for various archaeological excavations.  Karimnagar is also famous for ancient vedic learning. The city is situated 165 kms from Hyderabad with the nearest airport in proximity. Karimnagar is well connected with rails and roads.

Karimnagar is endowed with many tourist attractions. Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Temple,situated here, is a holy temple of Lord Shiva and is known as Banaras of South India. Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy Temple is another beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman, and was built 300 years ago by a shepherd. Vemulawada is holy pond whose waters are supposed to have healing powers. The place is visited by people in Mahashivratri. Kaleshwaram is a picturesque village situated at the convergence of Godavari and Pranahitha rivers. The majestic Elagandal Fort is an epitome of grandeur, history, and glory and stands erect on the banks of Manair river. Situated on the Kamareddy road of Telangana, the fort is a landmark of the city. Another historical landmark is the Naganur Fort based in Naganur village which can be dated back to 12th and 13th century.

Karimnagar holds great importance from the industrial point of view. Many major industries like NTPC, Kesoram cements are located in and around Karimnagar. The locals specialise in Silver Filigree, a delicate form of metal work. It is also a major education centre.
