Kudremukh is situated against a mountaneous backdrop and is the starting point for three rivers - the Tunga, the Bhadra and the Nethravathi.
Kudremukh, a small town in Karnataka, is known for its pristine natural beauty. Literally meaning "horse-face", Kudremukh offers picturesque views of the mountain that resembles the face of a horse. If you are interested in exploring wildlife, then this place is just what you've been looking for. Also, it has some challenging treks in store for the adventure lovers - charming cascades of waterfall, dense forests and grassy slopes, all await you here. Kudremukh is also popular for its biodiversity and is identified as one of the top 25 sites across the globe.

As you drive to Kudremukh from Chikmagalur, the difference in scenery becomes apparent. The landscape — designed by rain — effortlessly grows coffee, palms, cardamom and mango. The town was set up by the Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Limited. With its wide open spaces, it makes for a pleasant base. Kudremukh Peak (6,214 ft), the ‘horse-face hill’, falls before the town and requires a small hike up (closed to visitors in March and April). Kudremukh National Park, 10 km from the town, consists mostly of evergreen rainforests and is extremely beautiful.
