A land of mountains and fresh air, towering trees and a sparkling river, Patnitop in Jammu Kashmir is a famous hill top location. Not only is it replete with breath taking beauty, it also gives the traveller the thrill and joy of adventure sports in ample. Long walks in the lap of nature sum up the essence of this place, and it provides the opportunity of boundless exploration, away from the loud city life.
Jammu’s very own hill station, Patnitop is located at 6,640 ft — the highest point along the Jammu-Srinagar Highway. Unlike the usual hill destinations in the country, ‘discovered’ by the British or developed a century or more ago, this is a tiny 20th-century hill station with no Mall Road and no cantonment. Bounded by dense forests of pine and cedar, Patnitop is not unlike an oasis in the desert, because in relatively low-lying Jammu District, it is one of the few areas that receives snowfall in winter.

If long walks in undiscovered woods hearing the call of birds and rustling leaves is your idea, here is where you realize it. With the options of paragliding, high flying, skiing, trekking and golfing, all in this majestic mountainscape, this place gives you your adrenalin rush bang on. Tourists also visit the Sudh Mahadev and Gauri Kund, which are fabled as the places of abode of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. The Mansar lake situated at 90 kms from Patnitop, is in the depth of thick woods and is truly awe-inspiring. Driving down from Jammu to here, one faces such beauteous scenery that it is hard to question why Jammu and Kashmir is called Paradise on Earth.

Patnitop is really a great place to visit, specially in these winter seasons. We were staying in Prem Resort there in Patnitop. We also went to Natthatop, it was all awesome completely covered with snow and had a great scenic view. Food, sight-seeing and shopping: We mostly had our food at the resort itself and it really good. If you are going to natthatop then don't miss to have tea and Maggi at the mountain top, it feels simply awesome. Activities & things to do: Well one can do sliding on the snow, other than that one can do camp fire. There is not much to do there only the view is all you get.
