Famed for its traditional sweets and Dandiya Raas dances, Rajkot is a must visit when in Gujarat. Home to Mahatma Gandhi during his childhood, Rajkot has a couple of museums, along with picnic spots that have scenic beauty in plentiful. A melting pot of culture and religions, Rajkot holds unlimited opportunities for shopping, and you are sure to leave this city with colourful and happy memories.

Culturally enriched and still rooted in modern life, Rajkot is the city that was home to Mahatma Gandhi during his childhood years. His erstwhile home has now been converted into Gandhi Smriti, a museum curating his photographs from infanthood and daily items which were once used by him. Another museum worth visiting is the John Wattson Museum, which has artifacts recovered from Mohenjo-Daro, and 13th century scriptures.

Aaji Dam, constructed during the British Raj is a beautiful site and makes for a great picnic spot, and so does the Jubilee garden. A doll museum displaying over 1,400 dolls from all over the world is another highlight and place of delight in Rajkot. The Ramakrishna Ashram made entirely out of red sandstone is also of great architectural intricacy. Rajkot is famous for its gold jewelry and silk fabric, along with the tasty Gujarati food it has to offer, it is unquestionably the perfect choice for a family vacation. You can spend an evening or two listening to Dayro, Rajkot's very own music genre.

When it comes to shopping, the city has a number of local markets from where you can shop for items including authentic silk sarees and exquisite gold jewellery for yourself and your loved ones. Don’t forget to pack some local snacks from Rajkot as souvenirs. In short, the city has something for everyone- shopaholics, foodies or religious devouts.
