Amidst the pristine natural surroundings and the vast expanses of a hundred year old estate of coffee plantations adorned with deep red berries, lies Shivgiri isolated from the monotony of urban life. Shrouded in mystery and an old world charm, this tourist spot serves as a terrific destination to unwind and de-stress. So if you’re looking for an adventurous backpacking trip through dense woods following the roars and pugmarks of a tiger, Shivgiri promises to offer exciting trails.
Located at the southern tip of Karnataka is Shivgiri which is also home to the Doddabale Siddaragudda Peak, which is 5,500 feet high and also offers a view of the Lord Shiva Temple which is said to be about 400 years old. You can hear the sounds of the waters of the Bhadra River as they flow to the south of the forests while the Lakeville Dam offers an enthralling view. The Yemmedoddi Jungle Safari serves as a natural habitat for wildlife while the Baba Budanagiri hill ranges offer an adventurous trekking trail. According to a legend the Madagadakere, a large lake close to the Yemmedoddi village fills up because of magic rain, however the locals insist that it is the winds that fills up the lakes, bringing with them tiny droplets of water that the eyes cannot see. So pack your bags and get the adrenaline rushing if you wish to witness an exciting jungle safari following tiger paw marks and exotic species of endangered birds and animals at Shivgiri.
