With the New Year just around the corner, it’s time you came up with your travel resolutions for 2015. Think out of the box this year, defy conventions and make 2015 the year of travel. Here are some resolutions to get you started -

Take a Family Vacation

If you’ve had a good dose of traveling with friends or simply your better half, it’s probably time you took a family vacation. From partying in Goa, to soul searching in Rishikesh, surprise your family with something different and unique.

Indulge in Ecotourism

Are you a nature lover? Make 2015 the year of ecotourism as you travel the world and help benefit the ecological development of the pure, pristine and less explored corners of the planet. Hire a bicycle when you reach your destination, carry your own cloth bags to avoid plastic shopping bags; there is so much that you can do. You could travel to Mexico or Lebanon and feast your eyes on nature’s beauty.

Travel for the Love of Food.

Eat-Pray-Love as you explore the globe in search of delicacies so exquisite and delicious that your taste buds are as happy as they can get. Feast on spaghetti in Italy, hamburgers in the United States or simply the tangiest golgappas available on the streets of India.

Travel on a Budget

Yes, we like going all out on a vacation, but this year, take at least one vacation on a tight budget. Go camping instead of opting for a luxurious hotel, take a backpacking trip, eat at small food joints instead of the lavish restaurants, and discover that you can enjoy a holiday without having to spend too much.

Travel Like a Local

No matter where you travel, try becoming a traveller and not a tourist. Make one of your travel resolutions for 2015 about spending some time with the local people, learning about their culture. Opt for a homestay or a farmstay in India for a unique and culturally-rich experience.

Don’t Overlook Nearby Destinations

With so many long weekends in 2015 , quick weekend getaways have just got to be the thing of the year. Stop planning trips to faraway lands and see where you can head to nearby over the long weekend. Just because it’s close doesn't mean it won't be worth it! So say you’re in Delhi, make sure you plan at least one trip to Agra, Neemrana or Jaipur.

Challenge Yourself!

Make 2015 the year of being bold. Travel to indulge in an activity that challenges you. Go skydiving in Dubai, go white water rafting in Rishikesh or try out deep sea diving in Mauritius; let go of all your apprehensions and just do it!

Explore the Unexplored

Tired of all the tourist rush at your favourite holiday destinations? This year explore destinations that are still relatively untouched and far away from the noise and crowd of urban city life. Adore nature's beauty and breathe in some fresh air! Here are some great offbeat destinations in India to get you started.

Try Something New on Every Trip

Skeptical about trying the local food or indulging in the famous activities at your holiday destination? Don’t be. When on a vacation make sure to try out something new. So if you’re visiting Singapore, try picking your own seafood from the aquarium and see it being cooked in front of you; if you are headed to Rajasthan, hop on a camel and explore the mysteries of the desert; if you are on trip to London, have a drink in the freezing Ice Bar, which is constructed from ice!

Share Your Travel Experiences

What’s the fun in travelling far and wide if you can’t help others do the same. Share your travel experiences with the world and lend them a part of your holiday joy. Allow them to learn from your good and bad experiences and help them plan their travel plans better. The best way to get started is to write travel reviews.
