about triveni sangam

Religious tales have different versions of how the Sangam came into being. According to one, it is believed that God's nectar fell onto the earth and at that very point, the three rivers came together and merged. The second one says that Lord Brahma performed the Prakrista Yajna at this spot, giving it all the religious importance it holds today. Another one holds that Lord Rama spent considerable time here during his exile. Due to the above reasons, the Kumbh Mela is organised at the Triveni Sangam every 12 years. This sacred celebration is known as the world's largest congregation of religious pilgrims, thanks to the fervent participation of a large number of devotees from all over the country.
